Historic Districts Council (HDC)

HDC advocates for the preservation of all of New York City’s significant historic neighborhoods, buildings and public spaces. Through technical and strategic support, we uphold the integrity of the NYC’s Landmarks Law and further the preservation ethic. It is important for the next City leadership to focus on:

  • Maintaining the physical character of NYC’s historic neighborhoods while accommodating the necessary & needed change and growth for the city
  • Protecting and promoting the institutions (small businesses, religious buildings, libraries, schools, theaters, etc.) which create the NYC which we all love
  • Giving the residents and community members of the city a real voice in community planning initiatives
